Accomplished bookbinder Haleigh Givens leads this introduction to coptic stitch bookbinding, a technique that will allow you to create attractive, durable books that make great sketchbooks and gifts. You’ll learn how to fold the paper, measure and punch thread holes, and sew your book with the stylish coptic stitch (shown in the photos).

You’ll take home a finished sketchbook made with sturdy covers and Strathmore sketch paper. Everything you need is included:

  • Two sturdy art board covers

  • Strathmore Sketch filler paper, cut to size

  • Waxed linen thread to sew your book

  • A bookbinder’s needle

  • A 12” ruler

  • An awl to punch holes

You get to take home the tools, too, so you can keep creating at home. Your $45 class fee covers the supply kit and three hours of expert instruction with a small class size (limited to 10 students). We’ll also provide paint markers, washi tape, and more for you to decorate the cover of your new sketchbook in class.
