Urban Sketching with Fountain Pen

Sunday, September 22, 1–4 PM / Instructor: Emmett Catedral

We are so excited to host this workshop taught by our friend Emmett Catedral, one of the most talented urban sketchers we know. You’ll learn the basics of drawing with a fountain pen and water brush, starting with a line drawing and adding depth and color by blending the ink. This class will take full advantage of our historic neighborhood, inviting you to draw some of the colorful and interesting buildings that surround our shop. If weather permits, the class will move outdoors to get a better look and practice sketching on the go.

As with all our classes, a complete, artist-curated supply kit is included:

  • A Pilot Kakuno fountain pen, super smooth and easy-to-use, with water-soluble ink. (Or upgrade to a LAMY Safari for an extra $20.)

  • A Canson Artist Series Mixed Media notebook, the perfect companion for fountain pen that holds up to ink and water.

  • A Sakura travel water brush for quick blending and shading.

Believe it or not, these simple tools are everything you’ll need to create dynamic, expressive sketches of the world around you. Your $45 class fee covers these supplies and three hours of expert instruction with a small class size (maximum 10 students).
